Mobile Food Pantry launches Thursday in Craig

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

The Food Bank of the Rockies will begin offering its free Mobile Food Pantry program in Craig this week.

The first food distribution takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. Highway 40.

The Mobile Food Pantry is open to anyone, regardless of income, and all food is free, said Lissa Radman, Boys & Girls Club education director.

“Bring your bag and we’ll fill you up,” she said.

Thursday’s event kicks off a series of monthly distributions at the Boys & Girls Club. The dates for future events have yet to be finalized, Radman said.

The Food Bank of the Rockies is the largest private hunger-relief program in the state, and it provides food to programs throughout Colorado and Wyoming, according to the organization’s website.

The food bank provides food to the Boys & Girls Club, but “they felt that our community needed this (program), so they volunteered to do this and just to use our facilities,” Radman said.

Thursday’s distribution is scheduled to offer a variety of foods, including produce and bread.

Participants are asked to bring their own bags and boxes, and food is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“It’s there until it’s gone,” Radman said.

For more information, call the Boys & Girls Club at 826-0411.
