With some culture, some shopping and a whole lot of basketball, this weekend could be the perfect mix of entertainment.

I am pretty excited to hear about the African drumming workshop and performance this weekend.

The Romney family brought Abdoul Doumbia, a drummer from a small village in Mali, West Africa, who now resides in Boulder, to Craig to teach a djembe (tall African hand drum) workshop to anyone interested.

The class is from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and costs $20.

Call Lori Romney at 824-6934 to reserve one of the few spots left.

If you’re not into playing but would love to listen, check out the free performance by Doumbia and the Moffat County High School jazz band at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Craig Middle School auditorium. So cool.

This weekend is also time to get out and discover our community’s businesses, during KRAI’s annual Spring Expo.

The event runs from noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way.

Radio station employees said it’s the largest the event has ever been — with 62 businesses and nonprofits represented — so it could be a good way to kill an afternoon or find a service you’ve been hunting.

Oh, and don’t forget the weenie dog races at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and baby races at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

I hear they’re pretty comical.

NCAA March Madness basketball action continues tonight through Sunday as we all try to salvage our brackets.

Watch at The Sports Page Bar in the Holiday Inn of Craig, 300 S. Colo. Hwy. 13, with $4 appetizers, $2 domestic drafts and a chance to win a 46-inch flat screen TV.

On this week at West Theatre are “Shutter Island,” a psychological thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio that I would probably love if I weren’t too scared to see it, and “How to Train Your Dragon,” which looks charming and funny.

Redbox also has some new releases, including “The Men Who Stare at Goats” and “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”
