Michael Lausin: Thanks for joining us for flag retirement

To the editor:

On behalf of the American Legion, Post 62, American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 62, I would like to thank the members of our community and the media who turned out for the flag retirement ceremony that was held Oct. 9 in Craig City Park. We retired 188 American flags, six POW/MIA flags, one Blue Star flag and five Colorado State flags. The ashes from those flags were properly buried in an out-of-the-way place in City Park.

We will continue to collect flags until our next retirement ceremony. Flags can be dropped off at Solutions Oriented Systems downtown, at the VFW Post or at the American Legion meeting held at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at First Christian Church on West Victory Way.

Michael Lausin

Commander, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 62
