Meet and greet with cross-county cyclist at Moffat County Public Safety Center set for Thursday morning

Cross-country cyclist Denny Ying stops for a photo with first responders at the Jensen, Utah, Fire Department Tuesday on his way to Dinosaur.

CRAIG — Denny Ying is riding his bicycle across the United States — from San Francisco to Boston — to help raise awareness about suicide.

He expects to arrive in Craig today, where he will stay the night. As he travels across the county, he said, he’s been meeting people willing to tell their stories of loss and recovery.

One of Ying’s friends committed suicide shortly before he began his journey. Her name — Erlana Rutherford — is among the many names he wears on his shirt, with more being added at every stop to help keep him going.

Meet Ying, share a story or a name, and learn more about his trip before he departs for Yampa.

The meet and greet will be at 8 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Public Safety Center, 800 West First St.

Ying is also seeking a place to stay during his next seven stops in Craig, Yampa, Kremmling, Winter Park, Denver, Fort Morgan, and Sterling.
