Meet and greet Saturday with local quarter midget racers: Craig Sports Briefs for June 21, 2017

Interstate Batteries will host an autograph session with Craig racers Travis Cook and Xavier Davis from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at 1705 W. Victory Way.
Cook and Davis are competing this summer in the Rocky Mountain Quarter Midget Association circuit, ranked ninth and eighth, respectively, in their age division.
Most recently, the pair competed in a timing event in Dacono, with Cook placing fifth in the qualifying race. Davis took fourth to move on to the final round but was unable to finish due to a minor wreck.
All are welcome to meet with the young racers, both 12, and to view their cars. Free hats will go to the first 25 families to attend.

Silver Bullet golf event shoots in July

Registration is open for the 31st annual Silver Bullet Ladies Golf Classic, which takes place July 15 and 16 at Yampa Valley Golf Course.
Registration is $140 per player for a Friday practice round and 36 holes across Saturday and Sunday, as well as a Saturday night dinner and dance. Shotgun starts at 12:30 p.m. the first day and 8:30 a.m. the second.
Payouts go to the net and gross winners of each flight, and players must have USGA handicap and GHIN information available.
Registration must be completed by July 9.
Cart fees are $18 per day. YVGC will also offer limited RV parking during the weekend, and special rates are available for out-of-town players at Clarion Inn & Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites and Best Western Plus Deer Park Hotel and Suites.

Hook a fish, win cash prize in Elkhead contest

Colorado Parks and Wildlife will host the Elkhead Reservoir Fishing Classic June 24 through July 2 at Elkhead Reservoir State Park.
Cash prizes are offered for anglers, including $1,500 apiece for the fishers who snag a tagged northern pike and a tagged smallmouth bass.
If only one or neither tagged fish is caught, CPW will host a drawing for the remaining prize money at the end of the tourney.
Additional sums of $750 each go toward the sportsman who catches the most total pike and most bass during the nine-day event.
Many other prizes totaling $4,500 will be offered daily for smallest, largest and greatest number of fish given out by 5:30 p.m. each day. There is no limit for how many northern pike or smallmouth bass can be caught.
The tournament will kick off at 6:30 a.m. June 24.
Competitors of all ages are welcome for the contest, which has no entry fees. Licenses are free to ages 15 and younger and $1 for ages 64 and up.
Ages 16 to 63 will require a valid 2017 Colorado fishing license, which should be purchased before the contest.
All state boating and fishing regulations apply.
Campsite costs at Elkhead are $18 per night, and reservations are recommended. Daily park entry is $7.

Free cheer camp June 26 to 29

Moffat County Elite Cheer will host a free camp for young spirit athletes from 5 to 7 p.m. June 26 to 29 at Centennial Mall, 1111 W. Victory Way.
Those who participate in the clinic will be able to join the cheer team during the downtown Fourth of July parade.
Parents must sign a liability form along with registration before children attend.
Elite Cheer will also be hosting open gym sessions from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 2 at a rate of $20 per month.
