MCSD Whiteboard: ‘Tis the season for family fun

Cuyler Meade
MCSD Whiteboard

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, Moffat County, and in your school district, that means all kinds of great things.

It means the end of a semester, of course. That time of the season when, while students are hustling to make Santa’s nice list, teachers are hustling twice as hard to finalize grades.

Spare a thought — and maybe a hug — for our educators this time of year as they barrel toward this crucial deadline amid all the festivities of the holidays. As much fun as we’re all having, they’re working super hard to make sure to close the books on the fall semester in time.

It’s a great chance for students and parents to reflect on progress, learning, and opportunities for growth. As we deck the halls, let’s take a minute to also check in on what went well this semester and what we might do to improve in the spring.

But just as importantly — and maybe more so — please do enjoy the season. Your students’ time away from school is a sweet, sacred moment in their young lives that we hope you will help them enjoy to the fullest.

School is great, but winter break is special.

Make memories, enjoy this winter wonderland, sing carols, spread peace and good will toward men. Service and devotion are hallmarks of the Christmas season. Have fun, make merry and spread cheer!

We’ll be here when you get back, ready for another stretch of learning and connecting. That’s another reason these breaks are important. We need them to help our students stay sharp and ready to grow.

We’re so looking forward to that. But for now, let’s focus on the present.

As Scrooge’s ghost of that period said, “There is never enough time to do or say all the things that we would wish. The thing is to try to do as much as you can in the time that you have.”

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
