MCSD Whiteboard: A new face in facilities

Cuyler Meade
MCSD Whiteboard

Moffat County School District is, above all, an organization dedicated to the education and inspiration of children.

But that education and inspiration requires locations, and we’re so grateful to have facilities — buildings— in which we are able to provide these critical services to our young people.

School buildings and the other facilities the district utilizes are complex beasts. Like any high-quality building, they’re full of components that require regular maintenance, frequent fixing and updates of all kinds in order to keep them in good shape. These are also even more complicated, though, because of the unique requirements of buildings that serve hundreds of people at a time through all kinds of weather and with all kinds of added security and other needs that come with schools.

So, it’s a lot of work. At the district, we’re grateful for some fantastic facilities folks. And we’re super-excited to announce that we’ve hired a top-notch new director for this department, who started work this month.

Robert Miller is the new director of facilities for Moffat County School District. Robert comes to us with an exemplary record of school and facilities management, primarily in his home state of Illinois. It’s a huge get for the district to have acquired the services of someone with Robert’s experience and skills, and we’re extremely grateful to have him.

Robert will take over responsibility of the maintenance and upkeep of all buildings and grounds in the district. He’s taking on a skilled and dedicated team, but one with an enormous job to do and lots of opportunity to hone systems and procedures. We’re so excited to see what he and his team can do now that they’re all together.

Of course, it’ll take some time, and we hope you’ll be patient. But at the district, we expect the places we provide to students to learn and grow to be high quality. We’re limited by budgets and other constraints, but it’s so vitally important that we do the most we can with what we have. We must maximize our resources to give students and teachers great places to work together and achieve great things. We’re quite confident Robert and the facilities team he is now leading will up the ante, so to speak, as they take a hard look at the quality of our places.

Robert is also new to town, so say hello if you see him. It’s always exciting to have a new face move in, and we want Robert to feel welcome. Let’s show him the Moffat County charm.

This is just another step along the path to reaching our potential, Moffat County. We’re grateful for your partnership as we walk this road together.
