MCHS winter sports start practice Friday

Moffat County High School teams begin practice Friday. Listed below are the times and locations for each team:

• 3:40 p.m. — Girls basketball — MCHS gymnasium

• 6 p.m. — Boys basketball — MCHS gymnasium

• 4 p.m. (beginning Monday) — Wrestling — MCHS wrestling room

• 4 p.m. (beginning Monday) — Girls swimming — MCHS pool

With fall sports all wrapped up for Moffat County High School, Bulldog athletes can turn their attention toward the winter athletics.

The official first day of practice is Friday.

Any athlete who did not do a fall sport but is participating in a winter sport must have the emergency consent form signed and filled out, the notice to athletes’ parents signed and completed, an up-to-date physical and proof of insurance.

Participation fees must also be paid before practice starts. This year, the fee is $90.

The boys basketball teams will practice at 6 p.m. in the MCHS gymnasium, 900 Finley Lane.

The boys varsity basketball team will start the season Dec. 8 and 9 in the Steamboat Springs Shootout.

The boys junior varsity and freshmen basketball teams open the season Dec. 8 at Soroco High School, 305 S. Grant, Oak Creek.

The girls basketball teams will practice at 3:40 p.m., also in the MCHS gymnasium.

The girls varsity, junior varsity and freshmen basketball teams will travel Dec. 2 and 3 to Vernal, Utah, for the Uintah Tournament.

The wrestling team will begin practice Monday, meeting at 4 p.m. in the MCHS wrestling room on the third floor.

The Bulldog wrestlers’ first meet is Dec. 1 at Glenwood Springs High School, 1521 Grand Ave., Glenwood Springs.

The girls swimming team also won’t begin practice until 4 p.m. Monday in the MCHS pool.

The swimmers start the season Dec. 2 at Glenwood Springs.

While not an official MCHS sport, the Moffat County club hockey team began practice this week on Tuesday.

The Bulldog hockey players open the season against Durango and Glenwood on Dec. 3 at the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink, 1700 Bull Pasture Road, Eagle.
