Man who died while tubing in Steamboat Springs identified

— Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg on Wednesday released the name of the man who died Tuesday while tubing the Yampa River.

Ryg said David Lundy, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa, was visiting Steamboat Springs by himself and was staying with a friend.

An autopsy will be done at 1 p.m. Thursday to help determine a cause of death. It is believed Lundy suffered from a medical problem. Lundy was struggling while tubing, and a family visiting Steamboat helped bring Lundy to shore near the James Brown Soul Center of the Universe Bridge. He then passed out, and CPR was started. Lundy never regained a pulse.
