Man dies in motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 40 near Granby

GRANBY — A man motorcyclist died Monday after colliding with a guardrail about 1 mile east of Granby.
The single-vehicle crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. A 69-year-old Massachusetts man was riding a blue 1999 BMW motorcycle eastbound near mile marker 214 on U.S. Highway 40 when he apparently traveled off the right side of the road and struck the guardrail.
The rider was transported to Middle Park Medical, where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Colorado State Patrol is investigating the crash. Speed and impairment are not suspected as contributing factors. The roadway was dry, and no adverse weather conditions were noted in the area.
