Man arrested on weapons charge

A Craig man was arrested on suspicion carrying a concealed weapon, allegedly en route to his ex-wife’s house, after the worried woman tipped off police.

William David Sansom, 26, had a 9mm strapped to his leg with tape as he was allegedly walking to his ex-wife’s apartment Wednesday at about 12:30 a.m., said John Forgay, a lieutenant with the Craig Police Department.

Officers allegedly found a small jewelry bag with a “brown substance with red flakes,” while Sansom was being booked into the Moffat County Jail, stated the police report.

Sansom faces two felony charges of possession of opium or a derivative and first-degree charge of introduction of contraband into the jail. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
