As Christmas gets closer, everyone is in a rush to have the "best" Christmas ever! But why not slow down a bit and think about the Christmases past, the wonderful memories of years gone by. I was reminded of this the other day as I helped our college memoirs instructor sort thru hundreds of memoirs written by her students over the past six years. She was printing them off from her computer and we were organizing them into memory booklets for each of the writers. What wonderful stories have been written! And how wonderful to have them all printed for family members and close friends to share and remember those precious times in our lives.
Take the time to jot down a few notes of what today means to you and how it compares to times past and you will be surprised at the thoughts and memories that will come to you. These are the "memoirs" that you need to share with your children and other family members before your "history" is forgotten. Let your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren know how different Christmas has been in the past and share with them "old time" Christmas ideas.
Thank you, and have a wonderful, blessed Christmas and joyful, prosperous New Year!
