Lions Club announces holiday parade, tree sale

The Craig Lions Club announced details of its annual Parade of Lights and Christmas tree sales this week.

The parade, a joint project of the Lions Club and the Downtown Business Association, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 27 with a theme of characters from Dr. Seuss books.

The business association will provide a traveling trophy and a plaque for the float judged best in the parade. There will also be cash prizes for the first-, second- and third-place floats.

Floats will be organized at the south end of the Craig Middle School parking lot on Ninth Street beginning at 5:15 p.m. or so. The parade will travel south to Victory Way, then west to Ledford Street.

Applications for the parade can be picked up at the Community Budget Center, 555 Yampa Ave., or can be filled out at the time of the parade.

The Lions Club will also be selling Christmas trees again this holiday season.

The club will begin selling on or around Nov. 26 at the Kmart parking lot next to McDonald’s at 1080 W. Victory Way.

Proceeds from the sale support the Lions’ eye screenings and eyeglasses projects.

For the first time, the sale this year will include wreaths and some smaller trees that are shorter than four feet tall. The usual larger Douglas fir and Scotch pine trees will continue to be offered.
