Letter: Obamacare should be repealed
To the editor:
The Supreme Court has just slammed us with the biggest tax increase in the history of the nation.
The liberals in the high court by-passed President Obama’s use of the “commerce clause” in the Constitution as the source of his authority to impose his Affordable Health Care Plan on us, and legalized the Plan by calling it a “tax.”
President Obama cannot hide behind terminology anymore.
Whatever it’s called, it is coming out of your pocket. You are going to be forced to buy a product legislated by your government, whether you want it or not.
This law also forces small businesses to pay for expensive government-determined health insurance for their employees, or pay federal fines.
This policy will tend to stop business owners from hiring any more
employees, or will force them out of business completely.
Too bad for many who would like to have a job.
At the same time, more than 150 new boards, agencies and programs will be created to lock in government control of the health sector. Maybe some of the former business owners could get a job with them – joining the long list of “takers” rather than “contributors” in the system.
The law’s specifics as to your healthcare will be determined by the Independent Payment Advisory Board, with its rationing power over Medicare.
Government comparative-effectiveness boards will dictate how doctors practice medicine. Nearly half of all physicians are seriously considering leaving practice, precipitating a doctor shortage.
The $575 billion in payment reductions to Medicare providers and Medicare Advantage plans will cause more and more physicians to stop seeing Medicare patients, exacerbating access problems.
The Kaiser Family Foundation says the average price of a family policy has already risen by $2,200 during the Obama administration. Hospitals, doctors, businesses and consumers all expect health costs to rise under the new law.
Not only is Obamacare a financial disaster, it is immoral in that it forces people to pay for practices that are reprehensible to their deep religious beliefs.
Obviously, we cannot depend on the Supreme Court to defend us against what is clearly unconstitutional.
So, what we have to do now is vote people into congress who will repeal this Law and its unprecedented financial and moral cost to every household in America.
We also must have a president who will not veto the repeal. Let’s go for change!
