Letter: Craig Chamber thankful for Rotarians
To the editor:
Rotarians make our community a better place.
They read to students and distribute dictionaries. They sponsor and host exchange programs. They put out an amazing display of flags for every appropriate holiday. They educate themselves about the community, its programs and politics by encouraging guest speakers and dialogue at their meetings.
And, they do so much more.
Rotarians believe in four guiding principles: Is it the truth, is it fair, will it build goodwill and better friendships and will it be beneficial to all concerned?
You can see that these principals live within Rotarians not just for the time they are at club meetings, but in their business and personal relationships, too.
On Tuesday, members of the Craig Rotary Club gathered for their annual spring cleaning of the historic Marcia railroad car, located across the street from the Craig Chamber of Commerce and Moffat County Visitor Center. It is a project they’ve completed for longer than I’ve been involved with the Chamber. Club members not only spruce up the interior of the car, but clean out the flower beds and platform in front of it as well.
The Chamber can’t thank the Rotarians enough for the work they do for the community and for the Marcia Car. Their help is critical to helping the Chamber put the best face possible on the Marcia Car, which is an important historical asset for Craig and visitors to our community.
The Rotary Club’s work signals the official opening of this 106-year-old train car for the season.
Those who haven’t seen the interior of the car are always impressed by how well-preserved the luxuriously appointed car is. If you haven’t seen the interior of this car, stop by the Craig Chamber of Commerce and Moffat County Visitor Center, 360 E. Victory Way, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays to request a tour. I guarantee you’ll be impressed.
And, if you happen to see a Rotarian, thank them for all they do for the community.
