League games highlight slate of contests
Below are the January schedules for Moffat County High School varsity sports teams.
The Moffat County club hockey team will kick off the 2010 sports season Sunday, with high school teams starting Jan. 7, when varsity wrestling travels to Las Vegas.
Boys varsity basketball
The boys varsity basketball team will host Eagle Valley High School on Jan. 8 at Moffat County High School, 900 Finley Lane.
After Eagle Valley, Battle Mountain High School will play the Bulldogs on Jan. 9 at MCHS.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
On Jan. 12, Moffat County will travel to play Grand Junction High School in a non-conference game.
The team will travel Jan. 15 to Palisade, then Jan. 16 at Delta.
The Bulldogs return home Jan. 22 to face Glenwood Springs High School.
Moffat County will end the month on the road, with games against rival Steamboat Springs on Jan. 26, Battle Mountain on Jan. 29, and Rifle High School on Jan. 30.
Girls varsity basketball
The girls varsity basketball team also will play Eagle Valley High School on Jan. 8 at home and Battle Mountain on Jan. 9.
The team will go on the road to face Grand Junction on Jan. 12, Palisade on Jan. 15 and Delta on Jan. 16.
Moffat County will play Glenwood Springs on Jan. 22 at home, then travel to Steamboat Springs on Jan. 26, Battle Mountain on Jan. 29 and Rifle on Jan. 30.
The Bulldogs will play Sunday in Grand Junction against the Grand Valley Mavericks and Jan. 17 at Kremmling.
On Jan. 24 and 25, the team will return to the Moffat County Ice Arena when it faces Gunnison.
On Jan. 30, the team will play Telluride in a doubleheader at home.
Boys varsity wrestling
The boys varsity wrestling team will travel Jan. 8 and 9 to Nevada for the Las Vegas Tournament.s
On Jan. 15 and Jan. 16, the team will compete in the Green River (Wyo.) Tournament.
The Bulldogs will wrap up the month Jan. 29 in Meeker.
Girls varsity swimming
The girls varsity swimming team will resume its season Jan. 9 when it travels to Aspen.
On Jan. 15 and 16, the team will participate in the Jeffco Invite, before coming home Jan. 23 for the second Moffat County Invitational of the year.
On Jan. 29, the team will travel to Delta and on Jan. 30 will compete in Grand Junction.
