Kip Hafey: One Heart Project

Kip Hafey, MCHS head football coach

One Heart is the amazing story of the 2008 football players and coaches from Gainesville State School and Grapevine Faith in Texas – two groups from diverse backgrounds whose paths cross to create life-changing hope and inspiration for both teams.

Two Teams. Two Cultures. One Heart.

Reminiscent of The Blind Side, Remember the Titans, Hoosiers, and Chariots of Fire, One Heart is a moving story that transcends sports, touches the heart and shows how a simple act of compassion creates a powerful and lasting impact. One Heart demonstrates the power of unconditional love to transform lives.

Today, the Moffat County Bulldogs football team begins its regular season schedule by hosting the Ridge View Academy Rams.

Ridge View Academy is a private youth detention facility with some pretty serious offenders. RVA serves about 400 males in a residential facility.

These kids have very few people on their side. Our team, school and community have an incredible opportunity to have a positive impact on these players’ lives.

We would like these young men to leave our town knowing that they do have people that care about them, that they are as valuable as anyone else, and that we are proud of them for their work at Ridge View Academy in their academics and character development.

The plan is to have as many people as we can come down to the north end of the football field at 11:40 a.m. and make a spirit tunnel for the Ridge View Academy Rams to run through as they take the field. We want some Bulldog fans to sit on the visitor’s side and cheer for the Rams throughout the game.

We will have members of the MC Cheerleaders and MC Band go to their side and cheer for them. We will send them home with some sort of goody bag.

I hope you participate and share the word with as many people as you can.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and may this be a season to remember.
