Kid Connection

Fifteen-year-old Nicole Collins said there’s nothing she won’t do on a dare — and that includes spilling all her secrets in public.

Luckily it seems that her secrets aren’t that volatile.

Collins is a Moffat County High School sophomore whose riskiest behavior seems to be hanging out in a teen chat room. Most of the people she chats with are friends, but she has met some new people online.

Collins said she doesn’t spend all her time on the computer. She also enjoys going swimming, hanging out with her friends and partying. She’s not dating anyone, but when she does she prefers a boy with piercings, baggy pants and makeup, she said with a laugh.

“She’s always laughing,” her friend Bridget Moncada said. “She’s crazy and fun to hang out with.”

Even though she doesn’t really like school, Collins said she’s looking forward to her sophomore year because “freshmen are last in a lot of things.” She enjoys the additional privileges that being in high school affords.

Her favorite subject is lunch.

“Except lunch isn’t a subject. Is lunch a subject?” she asked.

Collins made varsity on the track and cross-country teams in her freshman year.

“Everybody said that was pretty good,” she said.

She likes to run because it gives her time alone with her thoughts.

Her favorite band is Good Charlotte, and she lives in Craig with her older sister, who is “so cool”
