John Emmanuel Thomas

John E. Thomas, a former Craig resident, died Jan. 2, 2006, in Overton, Nev.

Thomas was born in Craig on Oct. 15, 1951, to Mike G. and Dorothy (Jasmine) Thomas. He was raised in Savery and Laramie, Wyo., and Craig, where he attended high school.

Thomas married Kristine Drake on Jan. 2, 1988, in Steamboat Springs. He worked in coal and uranium mines, then returned to Snake River, where he worked as an equipment operator, reopened the coal mine, worked as a pumper in the oil field and later ran his own roustabout service. He also ran the Savery Store with his wife.

Thomas was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Kristine, and three sons; John Edward, Chad Michael and Jason Eric; and daughters-in-law Kari, Becky and Judy; and four grandchildren; Jasper, Keeton, Brittany and Bryson.

He also is survived by his parents, Mike and Dorothy Thomas, his sister Margaret Dickson and brother-in-law Bill; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

His son, Jacob Emmanuel, preceded him in death.

A funeral for Thomas was held at the Little Snake River School in Baggs, Wyo., on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, with Paul Prestrud officiating. Interment followed in Reader Cemetery.
