John “Dewey” Baker, 1943-2006

John “Dewey” Baker died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction.

He was born Aug. 21, 1943 to John and Mildred Baker in Grand Junction. He lived with his family and grew up in DeBeque.

He was schooled in DeBeque and later worked on oil rigs. He moved to Craig in 1968, where he remained until his death.

He is survived by two brothers, David Baker of Moab, Utah, and Barton (Norma) Baker of Vernal, Utah; six sisters, Barbara (Ray) Drapeau of Phoenix, Ariz., Evlyn (Paul) Williams of Bevier, Mo., Helen (Loren) Baysinger of Craig, Reba (Jack) Baysinger of Milliken, Arleen (Jerry) Whitbeck of The Dalles, Ore., and Dorothy (Jim) Thiele of Fort Lupton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clinton Kelly.

At his request, there will be no funeral.
