Joby, Trent, Abigail and Taya Told: Thanks, Dr. Hepworth

To the editor:

Our family wanted to send a very special thank you to Dr. Kelly Hepworth and his staff at Bear Creek Animal Hospital.

On the weekend of Nov. 12, we were out of town. Our daughter’s very friendly Australian shepherd, who is partially blind, escaped from our backyard, and we believe at some point on Nov. 13, he was shot.

He walked around for two days with a small bullet lodged in his stomach. We were lucky enough to find him on our return, and later after our daughter did some checking, she found a small hole in his side. Unsure of what it was, we waited until the next morning to take him to the vet.

That’s when we found out that he had been shot and that they needed to do emergency surgery to save him. We were devastated and very scared that he might not make it.

Dr. Hepworth and his staff were amazing and did everything they could to save him. At times, they made us feel as if our dog, Bear, was the only animal that they were taking care of.

We think that too many times vets and their staff go unnoticed for their countless hours of care they give to animals that become family to their owners.

My family and I wanted to make sure Dr. Kelly Hepworth and his staff knew how appreciative we are to them for saving our dog.
