James F. “Jim” Thomas

1928-2002

Craig resident James F. “Jim” Thomas died May 23, 2002, at Valley View Manor. He was 74.

Thomas was born March 6, 1928, in Lafayette, Colo., to Charles W. and Edna (Newbill) Thomas. He has been a resident of Craig since 1944 and graduated from Moffat County High School.

On April 12, 1949, he married Edna “Jo” Mihelish in Lima, Mont.

Thomas was a welder and repairman and owned Craig Auto Radiator shop for 35 years.

He was a life member of the Craig Elks Club and an honorary member of the American Legion Post No. 2700. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Edna, of Craig; son, Doug Thomas, of Craig; daughter, Terry Smith, of Ovid, Colo., and grandchildren, Shane Thomas, Cody Smith and Ashley Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; sister, Betty Scott and nephew, Rodney Scott.

Services were May 23, 2002, at Craig Cemetery with Rod Compton officiating.

The pallbearers were all Jim’s many friends.
