James F. “Jim” Thomas

1928-2002

James F. “Jim” Thomas died May 23, 2002, at Valley View Manor in Craig. He was 74.

Thomas was born on March 6, 1928, in Lafayette, Colo., to Charles W. Thomas and Edna Newbill.

He moved to Craig in 1944 where he attended Moffat County High School.

On April 12, 1948, he married Edna “Jo” Mihelish in Lima, Mont.

Thomas worked as a welder and radiator repairman. He was the owner of Craig Auto Radiator shop for 35 years.

He was a life member of the Craig Elks Club and an honorary member of the American Legion Post No. 2700. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Thomas is survived by his wife Edna “Jo,” of Craig; son, Doug Thomas of Craig; daughter Terry Smith of Ovid, Colo., and grandchildren, Shane Thomas, Cody Smith and Ashley Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack; sister, Betty Scott and nephew, Rodney Scott.

Services were May 5, 2002, at the Craig Cemetery with Rod Compton officiating.

Pallbearers were all his many friends.
