J.B. and Paula Chapman: Vote yes on 3A
September 24, 2007
Craig — As the parents of two fourth generation Moffat County School students, we would like to encourage you, as citizens of Moffat County, to vote “yes” on 3A.
We were provided with a great educational experience during our years in the Moffat County school system and want as good, if not better, opportunities for yours and our children today.
As in the late 1970s, we are at a crossroad in regards to the facilities where our children are educated. The healing and lighting systems are outdated, costing tens of thousands of dollars extra each year to operate. The Craig Middle School structure, along with roofs on many of the other buildings, are dilapidated to the point that repair nearly exceeds replacement.
Something must be done.
Although we were able to receive the information our coursework required through textbooks, today’s students utilize a more advanced realm of knowledge through computers and media-driven literature.
This enables them to advance at the pace that the 21st century expects of them. The only problem we have, is that our current technology infrastructure cannot run much of the material sitting on our shelves.

The equipment and operating programs have exceeded their life expectancy; they cannot be upgraded any longer and we are limiting the abilities of our teachers to teach.
The plan that is being proposed is a sound solution that meets our needs of today without squandering away excessive money hoping to be able to recover it tomorrow.
We believe that this is the right time and the right investment choice to continue to provide a quality education for this generation and generations to come.
Won’t you join us in voting “yes” on 3A?
“It’s the right thing to do!”
