Investigation under way into alleged assault

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

Detective Ken Johnson, of the Craig Police Department, has begun an investigation into an alleged assault that occurred Friday night.

At least two adult males were involved in a fight at 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of Russell Street, Johnson said.

He said a car jack and several rocks were used as weapons in the fight.

One of the men involved sustained wounds to his head, however, the extent of his injuries is yet to be determined, Johnson said.

Brian Gusner, of Craig, said a man wandered Friday night into his neighbor’s yard looking dazed and “beat up pretty badly.”

He said he did not know where the disturbance occurred or who was involved.

An ambulance arrived to take the man to the hospital, he said.

“Right now, we’re looking at it as a felony assault,” Johnson said.

“Patrol handled the call on Friday, and it just got over to me so we’re going to get it started.”

The names of the people involved have not been released.

Johnson urged anyone with any information about the incident to call him at 826-2387.
