Independent Life Center gets funds for wheelchair-accessible van

To the Editor:

Wonderful news! Caring for Colorado has funded a wheelchair- and handicapped-accessible van for the Independent Life Center. It should be here before summer is over, probably by July 4.

Pledged funds already deposited in the van fund will be used for van operating costs.

A meeting for potential van users will be at 1:30 p.m. May 9 at the Independent Life Center conference room in the Country Mall, 356 Ranney St. in Craig.

Potential van users will help to set priorities as to who can use the van, for what purposes, and how often so that when the van gets here, we can start using it immediately.

Potential van users who cannot attend the meeting because they have no transportation should call 826-0833 to give their input.

The ILC board and staff offers a most sincere thank you to all the folks who worked hard to raise funds for the van. Without such broad community support, the van would not have been a reality so soon.

Evelyn Tileston,

Independent Life Center director
