Humane society hopes to create dog park in Craig

The Moffat County Humane Society is looking to secure a grant to help create a dog park in Craig.

On Tuesday, the Craig City Council voiced its support for the effort and brought the humane society one step closer to completing its grant application, which is due it at the end of June.

The city’s letter of support is an important part of the human society’s application for a $25,000 award from Petsafe, that will help build Craig’s first dog park if granted.

“By receiving the support of the city of Craig, we are able to move forward in our effort to bring considerable financial resources to our community for the purposes of building a dog park,” said Ann Anderson, president of the HSMC.

The humane society is looking at a seven-acre plot owned by the city for the potential dog park but the conversation on planning, ownership and maintenance is just beginning.
