Holli Salazar packs a powerful punch to win MMA pro debut

Hayden native Holli Salazar raises her fists in triumph following a TKO of Maura Tynanes during Alaska Fighting Championship Jan. 17 in Anchorage.

The hunt is over, and a winner was named Wednesday night.

Hayden native Holli Salazar was victorious in her mixed martial arts professional debut Wednesday during Alaska Fighting Championship 136 in Anchorage, Alaska.

The bout, broadcast on UFC Fight Pass,  was a catchweight event between Salazar, nicknamed “The Huntress,” and Maura Tynanes.

Salazar won by technical knockout with seven seconds remaining in the second round, unleashing a flurry of punches on Tynanes to give her the win.

The fight can be viewed in its entirety on UFC Fight Pass.

Salazar recently returned home to Colorado, where she trains at Grand Junction’s Golden Fights MMA Gym.
