Hayden Town Board to consider not giving donations
Steamboat Springs — With a tight budget, the Hayden Town Board on Thursday night will take a look at its policy for giving donations.
The town board’s regularly scheduled meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Town Manager David Torgler wrote in a report that the town is expecting a “significant loss” in revenue in 2015 because of a drop in property tax values and the temporary closure of Yampa Valley Regional Airport. The airport is expected to close for 60 days in spring 2015 for runway repairs and upgrades.
“These revenue losses will strain an already tight budget for town services,” Torgler wrote.
The town gave out $14,000 in 2013 and $13,050 in 2014. Regular donation recipients included LIFT-UP of Routt County and the Routt County Council on Aging.
Diabetics in Colorado who use insulin to control their blood sugar levels won’t pay more than $100 per month for the drug starting in January thanks to a bill signed into law by Gov. Jared Polis on Wednesday.
