Hayden Public Library/For the Saturday Morning Press
Isabelle Mathey is this week's Reader of the Week.

The Reader of the Week for Hayden Public Library’s Summer Reading program is 10-year-old Isabelle Mathey. Isabelle’s brother Anthony won Reader of the Week in 2013 also at the age of 10. Isabelle also has a sister, Stori, age 9. Her parents are Deanna and Travis.

Isabelle moved to Hayden from Steamboat when she was three and is going to be in 5th grade this fall. She likes to play with her friends Tia, Ruth and Sabrina. She enjoys reading books and running in the neighborhood with their dog, Tyco, a black mouth cur; they also have six chickens and four pigs. Isabelle would someday like to become a fashion designer or a baker.

Her favorite color is yellow; her favorite food is steak; her favorite TV show is “Doc McStuffins,” and her favorite movie is “Matilda.” Isabelle’s favorite subject in school is reading and she also enjoys playing soccer and softball. Isabelle enjoys reading the “Red Pyramid Series,” by Rick Riordan. Her family is going camping in the Grand Canyon this summer. When asked if she had any advice for other kids about reading, she said, “Read about funny things you like.” Isabelle said she was “really excited” when she found out she was the Reader of the Week. Isabelle chose the eagle cookies for this week’s cooking demonstration.
