— A zipline, live music, cornhole, disc golf and fun runs for adults and kids are among the events at this year’s third annual Hayden Daze.

Hayden Daze will again be at Dry Creek Park and kick off with food vendors and a beer garden at 6 p.m. Friday. At 8 p.m., Loose Change will take the stage for a night of music and dancing.

The festivities are put on by the town’s Parks and Recreation Board. Jill Delay, the town’s recreation coordinator, said hundreds of people attended last year’s event.

“It keeps growing,” Delay said. “We’re trying to build on what is positive and what people say they like.”

Last year, the event made a profit, and they were able to invest the proceeds in this year’s Hayden Daze. The town secured $4,400 in sponsorships that makes many of the activities free. That includes the zip line, bounce house and obstacle course for the kids from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Some adults are also looking forward to the fun.

“Personally, I’m excited about the zipline because I’ve never been on one,” Delay said.

There will be 25 vendors this year who will offer everything from food, face painting and temporary tattoos.

New this year is the 5-kilometer Color Blaze race and a Kids Color Dash sponsored by the Hayden Valley Elementary School Health and Wellness Team.

Participants should wear sunglasses and a white shirt because runners will be doused with a homemade mixture of cornstarch and food coloring during the runs. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Hayden Valley Elementary School, and the races start at 8 a.m. There is a suggested donation of $15 for adults.

The disc golf and cornhole tournaments have proven to be popular in recent years. Participants can pre-register at Hayden Town Hall. The cornhole tournament is capped at 32 teams.

Hayden Daze would not be complete without a parade. Delay said about 20 organizations have signed up to participate. The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
