Having a ball
Firefighters event set for March 4
As Craig traditions go, the Firefighters Ball is one of the oldest on record, and according to Fire Chief Chris Nichols, the records go back about 100 years.
Bottom line: It’s a good idea to plan ahead for this local event, he said.
“We have limited seats, so you’ll want to buy your tickets early,” Nichols said. “Come have a great time.”
The Firefighters Ball is scheduled for March 4 at Cassidy’s in the Holiday Inn. Tickets are $10 a person, and the Kenny Bradberry Band will provide music. The ball starts at 9 p.m.
Proceeds from the benefit go to the Craig Fire/Rescue High School Scholarship Fund and the Fire Victims’ Assistance Fund.
Five scholarships worth $2,500 each were given out last year to seniors at Moffat County High School. Scholarships are given mainly to students interested in medical, nursing or firefighting careers.
“Many people make a donation by buying tickets, even if they don’t attend the ball,” said firefighter Kamisha Siminoe.
Tickets can be purchased from any local firefighter or by calling 824-5914.
