Gov. John Hickenlooper has two Saturday stops planned in Steamboat

Nate Waggenspack

Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is on a trip across the Western Slope to discuss economic development but had to miss a stop in Hayden because of winter weather Friday night.

Hickenlooper began his trip through La Plata, Mesa and Routt counties Friday morning in Durango and was scheduled to speak with community members at the Hayden Granary after coming from Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction. His plans changed, however, when the weather forced them to make the drive north instead of flying.

Hickenlooper still will speak in Steamboat Springs twice Saturday morning as planned. His first stop in Steamboat is at 9 a.m. at Big Agnes, 2625 Cooper Ridge Circle, before speaking about the importance of the tourism industry in the Western Slope at 9:45 a.m. at Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp.

The trip is part of the governor’s efforts to execute the Colorado Blueprint, according to a release. The Blueprint, created in 2011, is a statewide plan to stimulate Colorado’s economy.
