Golf course remains open

The light dusting of snow this week signaled the coming of winter, but it didn’t mean the closing of the Yampa Valley Golf Course.

“We just want people to know that they can still get their final couple of rounds in,” YVGC professional Chuck Cobb said. “Weather permitting, we won’t close until sometime in November.”

The course unofficially closes Oct. 31 but will remain open as long as the weather allows in November.

Right now tee times are available from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

“Some people have asked if golf will be free after the 31st,” Cobb said. “If the course is open, there will be some sort of charge to play on it.”

At this point, the cost for golf after October is undecided.

Cobb also wanted to remind prizewinners during the summer that certificates to the pro shop will expire when it closes on the last day of October.

Any equipment still being stored at the clubhouse also needs to be cleaned out before the unofficial closing date.

“We still have golfers out here every day,” Cobb said. “There are still some nice days left to get that last round in.”
