G. Mary Sides

G. Mary Sides of Delta, Colo., died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at her home. She was 81.

Sides was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Vermillion, S.D. to Ray and Orvilla (Cleland) Thorndyke. She married Vernon Sides on April 22, 1974, in Canon City, CO.

She was employed as a secretary for many years with Morcan Engineering in Delta.

Sides had lived in Hayden, Colo., for 11 years where she was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge in Craig. She enjoyed bowling, camping, sewing, and reading.

She has lived in Delta for the last 22 years coming from Alaska.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon of Delta; sons, Thomas Christian, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Robert Lightner, Jr., of Olathe, Colo.; daughters, Kyrlene Carter, of Bakersfield, Calif., and Diane Pfifer of Delta, Colo.; brother, John Thorndyke, of Las Cruces, N.M.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Dec. 16, 2002, at Mesa View Mortuary Chapel in Delta.

Burial followed at Olathe Cemetery.
