Fourth-grade field trip successful thanks to support

To the Editor:

On May 17-18, the fourth graders at East Elementary School experienced a wonderful field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo.

They participated in a Space Camp-In, which included classes about space and the Space Station IMAX film. We slept in Africa and South America (in the museum)!

The next day everyone enjoyed a trip to the zoo. This trip would not have been possible without the many volunteer parents who helped with fund-raising projects before we left.

We would especially like to thank the East Elementary School Parent Advisory Committee for contributing the money for transportation and volunteer parent’s museum fees.

Other contributors to this project were Trapper Mine, American Northwest Realty, Bank of Colorado, and First National Bank of the Rockies.

Students had participated in many fund-raising activities and for each of these we had tons of parent help. It’s also amazing how many good-hearted people donated money to the cause at our bake sale and for the Read-A-Thon fund-raisers!

We would also like to thank our 10 brave volunteers who rode the bus, helped chaperone and even slept with 48 fourth graders. They are Juan Garcia, Patti Albo, Kim Dilidine, Lisa Dimick, Cherie Walker, David Myers, Rob Moutray, Jeff Foster, Suz Syvertson, and Christine Trujillo.

Our bus drivers Adrienne Reeves and Tamyra Thomas also deserve a special thanks for getting us there and back safely. A big thanks to everyone that made this experience possible!

Sincerely, Ms. Claus,

Mrs. Foster
