Fitness Tip: Walking goes a long way for health
If you’re looking for a low-impact exercise that will boost your overall health, try adding a walking routine into your week.
According to Harvard Medical Center, walking for more than two hours a week, which is just 21 minutes a day, you can trim the risk of heart disease by 30 percent.
“This do-anywhere, no equipment-required activity has also been shown to reduce the risk of diabetes and cancer, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and keep you mentally sharp,” states Harvard Medical Center on its website. “Walking can have a bigger impact on-disease risk and various health conditions than just about any other remedy that’s readily available to you. What’s more, it’s free and has practically no negative side effects.”
