Fitness Tip: Staying hydrated keeps you healthy

Hydration refers to how your body retains adequate amounts of water to sustain regular body functions. The combination of not drinking enough water prior to engaging in exercise can lead you on a path to dehydration.

Staying hydrated prior to and during exercise is important because of the hydration that is lost through perspiration. Take short water breaks while exercising to help stave off dehydration and increase your endurance. One of the first signs of dehydration is dry mouth. If your mouth starts to feel dry, then be sure to sip some water.
