Fitness Tip: Neuromuscular exercise

Neuromuscular exercise refers to activities that promote balance and coordination. Just like when you work your muscles, when you challenge your balance and coordination, it tends to improve. Some examples of neuromuscular exercise include yoga, Pilates, and tai chi.

Your exercise routine will be well-rounded by including balance and coordination activities, and if you are a little older, these activities can also help reduce your risk of falls. It is also important to remember when starting new exercises to begin at a lower intensity to make sure you are not overworking yourself.
