Fitness Tip: Managing Minor sprains and strains

If you have sustained a minor sprain or strain, remember the acronym R.I.C.E. It stands for Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Rest allows time for your body to go through the healing process. Ice, compression and elevation assist in managing swelling which helps speed up your healing.

Compression with a bandage also adds some support to the injured area. Remember icing too long can lead to frostbite. Rule of thumb: “numb is done.”
