Fitness Tip: Don’t underestimate the power of stretching

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

People often forget to stretch before and after workouts, however it’s vitally important to lengthen your muscles before rigorous activity. Stretching helps not only your workout performance, but it also helps improve your joint range of motion, according to the Mayo Clinic. It also decreases your risk of injury.

Yet, the importance of stretching goes beyond just a pre or post-workouts. It’s also beneficial to your body to stretch anytime. Stretching while watching TV or while listening to music is a great way to keep you limber.

Stretching increases blood flow to muscles, states the Mayo Clinic. Find a ritual that fits your lifestyle and stretch away.
