Fitness Tip: Don’t forget to cool down
Just like warming up prior to exercise, cooling down following activity is also an important component of an exercise program. A good cool-down gradually lowers your heart rate and allows your body to recover from your workout.
It can also help reduce risk of muscle injury, and post-exercise stiffness and soreness. Examples of a cool-down include walking or continuing your activity at a lower intensity for five to 10 minutes. End your session with stretching while your muscles are still warm, which will contribute to overall flexibility.
