Fitness Tip: Don’t forget to cool down

It is important to take time to cool down at the end of your exercise activities. Cooling down gradually lowers your heart rate and allows your body to recover from your workout. It also can help reduce risk of muscle injury and post-exercise stiffness and soreness.

A good cool-down includes walking or continuing your activity at a lower intensity for 5 to 10 minutes. This should be followed by stretching while your muscles are still warm, which helps improve overall flexibility.
