Fitness Tip: Are you getting enough cardiorespiratory exercise?
Cardiorespiratory exercise refers to activities that are focused on improving your heart and lung health. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that adults should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise each week to improve cardiorespiratory function.
For example, you can accomplish this with 30- to 60-minute bouts of exercise five days per week or 20 to 60 minutes of vigorous activity three days per week. If you don’t have the time to get in longer continuous exercise sessions, you can break up your exercise into multiple shorter sessions throughout your day. Remember to progress your exercise duration, frequency and intensity gradually to reduce your risk of injury and improve adhering to your exercise regimen.
