Firefighters contain wildfire in Larimer County

BERTHOUD, Colo. (AP) — Crews have contained a wildfire that burned about 300 acres in Larimer County near the Cobb Lake State Wildlife Area.

Poudre Fire Authority officials say the fire was reported around noon Tuesday, and an emergency notification system message went out to residents within a mile to warn them to prepare to leave.

Firefighters say several homes were threatened as winds gusted to 25 mph, but none were damaged.

The fire was declared contained around 3 p.m.

Jennifer Churchill with Colorado Division of Wildlife tells the Coloradoan (http://noconow.co/z4aLNL ) that the fire started as a ditch burn, but the fire got out of control.
