Fire warning in effect through tonight

The Grand Junction National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning that remains in effect from noon to 8 p.m. today, the Bureau of Land Management reported in a news release.

“A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly,” according to the release. “A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.”

Residents must curtail any outdoor fire use during the time the red flag warning is in effect, the BLM reported.
