A Tuesday evening fire hit hard at a Craig thrift shop.

Craig Fire/Rescue and Craig Police Department responded at about 7:30 p.m. to a call of black smoke coming from the building at 2005 W. Victory Way.

Responders tackled a small blaze at Classy but Sassy Thrift Shop, one which required firefighters to tear apart portions of the building to allow for smoke ventilation.

The building, across US Highway 40 from Walmart, also houses businesses Turning Heads Salon, The Dog & I, and Health Works, though Craig Fire Chief KC Hume noted the smoke damage was primarily on the east side with the thrift shop.

Hume said the exact cause and the extent of the damage was as yet uncertain. However, no injuries were involved.

Craig Press will have more on this story as it develops.
