Family of Jack Leonard and Ryan Sixkiller: Community deserves thanks for its support

To the editor:

Our family would like to extend its gratitude to this community and surrounding areas, as time and time again, they have demonstrated generosity and genuine concern.

At the end of September, Jamie Lord and Dianne Brannan put on a benefit auction for Ryan Sixkiller Jones. The locals not only donated various items to be auctioned off but came out to bid generously. Ryan has dealt with cancer for 20-plus years, and this community has supported other benefits held in Ryan’s behalf.

Recently, we lost our dad, Jack Leonard. Once again, we were shown support and concern. The hospital and the nursing staff cared for our dad with the deepest respect and utmost care for his comforts and needs; Doctors Riley and Crow showed great compassion assisting with all of Dad’s needs; and the hospital staff gave their support.

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary generously offered to host a dinner after the services, though Dad was not a member.

Then there is the outpouring of sympathy, caring and friendship toward all of us. Thanks to our great community.
