Event aims to help nonprofits

Nonprofits that want to try to find extra funding should take part in Rural Philanthropy Days.

This year’s Granby-based event is Sept. 11 through Sept. 13. The aim of the event is to introduce nonprofits to a wider array of potential funding sources.

“It was well worth going,” said Independent Life Center Director Evelyn Tileston, who has attended previous events.

Tileston credits Philanthropy Days for helping the center purchase a wheelchair-accessible van to shuttle people with disabilities.

Philanthropy Days tries matches nonprofit organizations with funders in a way that allows both parties to put faces with programs. Nonprofits in a specific region have the opportunity to attend only once every three years.

This year’s event for the region’s nonprofits will be in Granby. However, not many local agencies have signed up to attend the event. Registration began April 1.

Those interested in registering should call Nicole Harvey at (970) 887-9838.
