Evelyn Tileston: Population shift concerns
To the editor:
Yampa Valley’s community leaders need to pay serious attention to the article “Older adults driving local population growth” by Brandon Owens on page 4 of the July 8, issue of the Craig Daily Press. The population changes described in this article will have significant impact on the future public facilities, programs and services we need to make available in our area.
Mr. Owens’s article shows us the beginning of a population shift. Let’s be proactive and forward thinking. Let’s accept and plan for the coming changes in our population, so that our activities, programs and services are as accessible and welcoming to older Americans as we can make them. After all, when the next energy boom comes and goes, the rest of us still will be here.
